CNMA is co-sponsoring SB 65, a bill that re-imagines maternal health in California. This bill is a large and first-of-its-kind "momnibus" style bill with multiple sections that aim to improve outcomes for birthing people and to reduce racial disparities in birth outcomes. This bill includes a midwifery education component and if passed, the new law would provide grant funding to midwifery schools in California who prioritize admitting underrepresented groups, people from underserved communities.
