Hi California CNMs!
I am in the process of moving to the LA area and need to set up my final clinical rotation for my last semester of CNM school in conjunction with my move. I will be moving from the Kansas City area but southern Cali is home to me and is where my closest loved one has chosen to settle.
- Dates will be late August 2024 through the beginning of December 2024.
- I am studying through the University of Cincinnati's distance learning program.
- This final rotation will be integrative, doing clinic visits as well as labor/birth.
- I am in need of a hospital-based clinical site to round out my education, since all of my other rotations as well as my recent employment have all been at freestanding birth centers. A combination practice (homebirth &/or birth center) that also includes some hospital births could meet my needs as well.
Me in a nutshell:
- My original educational goal was medical school (Family Practice was the field I was intending to enter) and I did an internship with the FP residents at a local hospital where I was mostly in L&D with them. I did go on to complete my pre-med degree but was unable to proceed to medical school due to life circumstances.
- Several years later, I became a lay homebirth midwife & hospital doula for about 8 years (10 years ago), then decided to get my RN with the intention of going on and getting my CNM. Of course life meanders sometimes, hence the 10 year delay!
- I've given birth 6 times myself, all vaginal (no epidurals), some in-hospital, some OOH, some interventive, some not. And 1 freebirth as a traditional surrogate mom (hence the additional adults in the family picture!)
- I've worked in a variety of settings as an RN over the past 10 years, but I have been working as an OB nurse at a freestanding birth center with CNMs since April 2022 and plan to continue there until I move to CA in August 2024.
Text or email are the best way to reach me due to my rotating schedule between my clinic days for school and my night shifts at work. My resume is attached.
