California Lobby Day

Join your fellow midwives for an empowering day lobbying to promote midwifery, improved access, and reproductive justice.   

Lobby Day is an important opportunity to inform our own district legislators on why access to midwifery and removal of supervision is important. In addition, this year will also be focused on regrouping, recharging, and enjoying time networking with our fellow midwives. 

We will begin our day with an information session on a few of the bills we support and will lobby our legislators to support. If you're a newbie to Lobby Day, we will include our usual tips and tricks for visiting with legislators. If it's a bright, sunny day we will be able to enjoy our lunch on the Capitol lawn. After that, we will descend on the Capitol for visits with our own district legislators to inform them about midwives, what we do, why supervision removal is important, and also why this year's reproductive justice bills are so critical to supporting improved access and outcomes. A no-host Happy Hour at Grange Restaurant and Bar (only a few minutes' walk from the Capitol) will follow for those who are interested.
