ACNM Foundation Board of Trustees

The A.C.N.M. Foundation Board of Trustees is seeking new mission-oriented board candidates who will enhance board expertise in areas that advance our strategic priorities and who reflect the diversity of the ACNM membership. Read the full announcement on Bulletin Board!

AMCB Research Committee

The AMCB Research Committee is a diverse group of subject matter experts (CMs & CNMs) who represent midwives of different races, ethnicities, genders, practice settings, clinical experiences, locations, etc. The committee conducts a task analysis survey of newly certified CNMs/CMs to ensure that the national certification examination reflects current entry-level midwifery practice. This committee is also responsible for conducting internal research relevant to the mission of the corporation and approving external research projects. For more information, please click here. Health Policy and Professional Practice Committee

The Health Policy and Professional Practice Committee advocates for the people we serve, our communities and the midwifery profession, and helps with the implementation of new policies and best practices. We focus on increasing access to reproductive health care; reducing health disparities for BIPOC, trans and non-binary, LGBQ, people with disabilities, poor people and others impacted by systemic inequalities; and removing barriers to midwifery care in CA. Continuing Education Committee

The CNMA Continuing Education Committee is responsible for planning and hosting the CNMA Annual Meeting each year, and is now taking on the added responsibility of creating continuing education content that will be available through www.CNMA.org/education (coming soon!). Please consider joining this small and focused team. The work is targeted and specific, but there’s still plenty of room for creativity. Interested members, please contact jillcauley4@gmail.com.

ACNM Division of Global Health (DGE) Chair

The ACNM DGE is composed of active and involved ACNM member volunteers who, as global citizens, promote understanding of the reciprocal benefits of working with diverse communities around the world. ACNM Midwives-Political Action Committee (PAC) Student Representatives

ACNM is actively recruiting for two ACNM Midwives-Political Action Committee (PAC) student representatives! PAC is the fundraising arm of ACNM legislative efforts. Fundraising money is used primarily as campaign donations to targeted legislators - those who have historically supported midwifery and women's health initiatives. As a PAC student rep, you would be an integral part of this fundraising team. This position is a great way to network with midwives throughout the US and can be a perfect (and easy!) component of your leadership development and understanding of midwifery-relevant policy. San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Chair

San Francisco Bay Area Midwives! We are seeking a new chapter chair (or co-chairs) to take over for the Bay Area Chapter. Duties of the chapter chair include presiding at all chapter meetings, maintaining communication among chapter members and with CNMA, and developing a plan/agenda for chapter meetings. BIPOC CNMs are especially invited to apply, as CNMA is actively working to bring more BIPOC CNMs into leadership positions throughout the state. This is an exciting role which will allow you to promote networking and engagement among your fellow local area midwives. You will be supported by your fellow leadership team (vice chair, secretary, and treasurer) as well as by CNMA who is here to help you every step of the way! Communications Committee

The social media team needs help creating content for the CNMA platforms! Can you help? Here is what is involved:

 

  • Come across an interesting article relating to maternal health care, reproductive justice, health equity or midwifery

  • Summarize the key point in a few sentences or a paragraph 

  • Drop it into a  provided google doc with the link to the original content

Support Survivors of Forced Sterilization

The California Coalition for Women Prisoners and California Latinas for Reproductive Justice are looking for clinicians to support survivors of forced sterilization by reviewing medical charts in search of information relating to sterilizations, tubal ligations, hysterectomies, etc., in addition to patient consent, or lack thereof. AWHONN Post-Birth Warning Signs Save Your Life Handout Patient Evaluations Research: Call for Applicants

Would you like to collaborate with AWHONN on a research study to seek input from the patient’s perspective and feedback about the Save Your Life handout and its benefits as a resource for discharge education? We are looking for a Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigator (Co-I). The timeline for this project is approximately 10 months which includes: onboarding, identification, recruitment of patients and possible revision of the AWHONN PBWS SYL Handout. Apply by August 19, 2022.

Midwifery Workforce Development and Education Support Committee

CNMA's Workforce Development and Education Committee focuses on building, diversifying and retaining the CNM workforce in California.  This includes strategizing to increase the number of clinical placement sites and preceptors in California, establishing and maintaining two-way communication between midwifery programs that have student nurse-midwives in California and the CNMA Board of Directors; fostering and supporting student mentoring programs, and seeking ways to support and retain midwives in practice.

 

Ideal candidates include any of the following:

  • Lead and Chief Midwives from practices throughout the state 

  • At least one representative from each midwifery program that has student midwives in California

  • Midwives who are passionate about supporting students and educators

  • Midwives who are passionate about mentoring 

  • Midwives who are passionate about scaling up midwifery in California

  • Midwives who seek to enhance the well-being of midwives in practice

Seeking Assistant Membership Chair!

The CNMA Membership Chair is seeking someone to fill an Assistant Membership Chair role. The Membership Chair is responsible for communications with new and existing members and developing new and creative ways to increase membership and improve engagement. We are looking for someone to take part in brainstorming and carrying out ideas, as well as assisting with tasks such as emailing and updating membership records. ACNM Clinical Standards and Documents (CSD) Committee

Volunteers work to write and revise ACNM documents that affect midwifery practice. Members are responsible for participating in revisions, updates, editing, and creation of new documents.
