ACNM Affiliate Development & Support

The Division of Advocacy & Affiliate Support seeks a new Chair for the Affiliate Development & Support Committee. Responsibilities include,

  • Directly develops and provides ACNM state Affiliate leaders with the resources (via access to current and pertinent materials: toolkits, training, mentoring, websites, etc.) needed to create and manage dynamic, thriving Affiliates.

  • Assists Affiliate leaders in effectively governing and managing State Affiliates

  • Increases diversity within the membership and leadership of Affiliates

  • Increases general Affiliate member numbers, engagement, and satisfaction

  • Strengthens statewide communications, supporting structures, and networking

  • Maintains open and dynamic linkages with regional and national structures; facilitates student engagement at the Affiliate level

  • Provides professional development opportunities for members; plans and implements the Affiliate Workshop at the Annual Meeting

  • Coordinates within the DAAS to ensure advocacy and consumer engagement agendas are implemented at the Affiliate level

AMCB Research Committee

The AMCB Research Committee is a diverse group of subject matter experts (CMs & CNMs) representing midwives of different races, ethnicities, genders, practice settings, clinical experiences, locations, etc. The committee conducts a task analysis survey of newly certified CNMs/CMs to ensure that the national certification examination reflects current entry-level midwifery practice. This committee is also responsible for conducting internal research relevant to the mission of the corporation and approving external research projects. For more information, please click here. Continuing Education Committee

The CNMA Continuing Education Committee is responsible for planning and hosting the CNMA Annual Meeting each year, and is now taking on the added responsibility of creating continuing education content that will be available through www.CNMA.org/education (coming soon!) Please consider joining this small and focused team. The work is targeted and specific, but there’s still plenty of room for creativity. Interested members, please contact membership@cnma.org.

ACNM Audit Subcommittee

The ACNM's Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) is seeking members for the Audit Subcommittee. The Subcommittee's responsibilities include,

  • Reviewing the annual audit report and discussing the audit findings and recommendations to the FAC

  • The FAC will provide the audit findings and recommendations and any needed BOD-related audit action(s) to the BOD at the first meeting after the audit.

Racism and Midwifery Education Committee

The ACNM Racism and Midwifery Education Committee is seeking new committee members. The goal of this committee is to provide guidance and resources to address racism within midwifery education to address the recommendations from the Access to Equity in Midwifery Education Report. These recommendations are based on a collaboration with DOME to:

  • Enhance the capacity of midwives of color who are interested in working in academia.

  • Financially compensate clinical sites and preceptors.

  • Re-establish ACNM mentorship programs to connect student midwives with common interests and career trajectories.

  • Develop equity in midwifery education report cards for midwifery education programs.

  • Create a cross-institutional support program to provide a safe space for students and help them gain leadership skills.

Channel Islands Chapter

Midwives serving the Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties! We have open leadership positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. BIPOC CNMs are especially invited to apply, as CNMA is actively working to bring more BIPOC CNMs into leadership positions throughout the state. These exciting roles will allow you to promote networking and engagement among your fellow local area midwives. You will be supported by your fellow leadership team and the CNMA who is here to help you every step of the way! If you want to take on one of these roles, please email membership@cnma.org.

CNMA Communications Committee

The social media team needs help creating content for the CNMA platforms! Can you help? Here's what's involved:

 

  • Come across an interesting article relating to maternal health care, reproductive justice, health equity, or midwifery

  • Summarize the key point in a few sentences or a paragraph 

  • Drop it into a  provided Google doc with the link to the original content

Call for CNMA Southern California Representative!

Regional Reps are voting members of the BOD.  It is a three-year term: two years as Regional Rep, followed by one year as Immediate Past Regional Rep (the "Immediate past role is non-voting). If interested, contact membership@cnma.org

 Responsibilities include,

  • Attend monthly Board of Directors (BOD) meetings

  • .Keep in touch with the regional chapters so the regional director knows what is happening.

  • Act as a voice for the members of the BOD.

  • Establish two-way communication with regional chapter chairs and members to update them on affiliate issues and bring issues, comments, needs, and requests from regional members to the BOD.

  • They take the initiative regarding events in their region and develop relationships with the region's members, including participating in local chapter meetings when possible.

  • Involvement in fundraising efforts in their region, whenever possible.

  • Organizing in-district visits for grassroots advocacy/legislation.

Postpartum Support International California Chapter Board Member

PSI State Chapters advance the mission of PSI on the state level and help to build systems that support families while also increasing access to education and treatment for perinatal mental health. Chapter leaders work to raise awareness, create resources, and advocate for change. Find out what our committees are doing here.

ACNM Taskforce on Financial Transparency 

The ACNM Board of Directors has established a Task Force on Financial Transparency. There will be 12 members of the Task Force, 7 of whom will be active ACNM members. The plan is to meet every month for about 6 months.

Midwifery Workforce Development and Education Support Committee

CNMA's Workforce Development and Education Committee focuses on building, diversifying, and retaining the CNM workforce in California.  This includes strategizing to increase the number of clinical placement sites and preceptors in California, establishing and maintaining communications between midwifery programs that have student nurse-midwives in California and the CNMA Board of Directors; fostering and supporting student mentoring programs, and seeking ways to support and retain midwives in practice.

 

Ideal candidates include any of the following:

  • Lead and Chief Midwives from practices throughout the state 

  • At least one representative from each midwifery program that has student midwives in California

  • Midwives who are passionate about supporting students and educators

  • Midwives who are passionate about mentoring 

  • Midwives who are passionate about scaling up midwifery in California

  • Midwives who seek to enhance the well-being of midwives in practice

  • Student nurse-midwives who are interested in supporting any of our committee's current focus areas​

ACNM Speakers Bureau

We are starting a national-level Speaker’s Bureau. The intent is for ACNM to have a listing of midwives and their expertise. This is a two-fold initiative: one for us to have a list of subject matter experts and their area of expertise, and two for ACNM to be a conduit for national-level speakers.
